Principal Ron Garrett Moves from Abraxas High to Poway High

After just one year as principal at Abraxas High School, Ron Garrett will become Poway High School's principal, the school district announced Monday.

Garrett was the assistant principal at the Mt. Carmel High School from 2002 until he took over as principal at Abraxas in July 2012 when Rudy Casciato retired

The position for Poway High School's principal opened up after current principal Scott Fisher announced his retirement.

Garrett was a science teacher at from 1993 to 2000, as well as a Poway High School Foundation board member and a member of the governance body. In 1999-2000, he earned National Board Certification in Science from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards, according to a 2012 news release.

Garrett’s educational background includes a bachelor of science degree in geology from State University of New York at Stony Brook, post-graduate work in school administration at the University of Houston and a master of science degree and administration credential from National University, San Diego.

Garrett lives in Rancho Peñasquitos with his wife Jodi and their two children.
