Orchestra Nova: 'A Taste of Spain'

Mark the end of the Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation’s 2011/2012 Professional Performance Season  with Orchestra Nova's  A Taste of Spain.

The evening will begin in the lobby where concert-goers will be immersed in an emotional, intellectual and theatrical "Nova Experience" bringing the essence of Spain -- dance, cuisine, culture, music and more to the Center. 

Music from Bizet, Tchaikovsky, de Falla, and Albeniz, among others, will be performed by Orchestra Nova's 35 talented musicians.

An array of special guest artists including: Victoria Mature, soprano; Gregorio Gonzalez, baritone; Olé Flamenco (Marysol Fuentes, flamenco singer; Erika Lopez, flamenco dance and Juan Moro, flamenco guitar) and Fred Benedetti, classical guitar will further bring Spain to life.

The “Nova Experience” being presented at the Center from 6:30 to 8 p.m. will consist of:

  • Pre-show Spanish Tapas and Appetizers from Café Merlot- purchase food ticket from www.powayarts.org
  • Spanish Wines will be available

These pre-show and intermission events presented free of charge: 

  • Watch Flamenco Dance Demonstrations and take a lesson
  • Learn All about Spain -- costumes, maps and props
  • Watch and listen to a "Music Memory" Lesson—Nova in the classroom
  • Get your photo taken with "Jung Faux"—guests can take a photo with a life-size Jung-Ho Pak, complete with props
  • Meet the Orchestra Nova Matador
  • “Nova Life” – guests can learn more about the Orchestra and watch and listen to “Celebrating Public Radio and TV” concert video
  • San Diego County Library exhibit with books and recordings about Spain

A Taste of Spain will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $45 for adults and $10 for kids 18 and under. Call the number below or click "Buy Tickets" to get your seats for the show.

 

Ticket office hours: Friday, Noon to 5 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and two hours prior curtain.
