Melissa Phy was born and raised a Southern California girl. She moved to San Diego in 2005 to attend San Diego State University, where she received her bachelor's degree in Journalism in 2009. Since then, Melissa has been trying to find her place in the journalism world, starting with freelance writing for Patch. She hopes to one day be a novelist.
A self-proclaimed foodie, Melissa enjoys eating out, farmers markets, lots of cooking, and, of course, writing about it weekly on her online food blog. She can be found in the kitchen most nights with her favorite music on and a pot of something that smells like heaven.
Melissa, who is mildly obsessed with the English language, has the unfortunate habit of correcting everyone's grammar, although she, herself, does not always have proper grammar usage. She's the first one to point out that "funnest" is not a word and me is an object, not a subject. She'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about pronouns or dangling modifiers.
