Grab Your Gloves: Drama Anticipated in Poway Mayor's Race

The Poway mayor's race is expected to be more of a battle than usual when Don Higginson's term ends next year.

The race for Poway mayor next year is expected to come with a side of something different this time: drama.

Mayor Don Higginson's re-election bid might not be as easy as it has been in the past, based on concerns of a former councilwoman that he is "vulnerable" this time around and the thought that an expected prime challenger—Councilman Jim Cunningham—might not represent what Powegians want, according to a U-T San Diego report.

“I believe Higginson is very, very vulnerable,” former Councilwoman Merrilee Boyack told the newspaper. “Twenty-eight years is long enough."
