Man Allegedly Made Sexual Gestures at 11-Year-Old Poway Girl

The girl was walking home from Twin Peaks Middle School on Thursday when the alleged incident occurred.

An 11-year-old girl on her way home from Twin Peaks Middle School in Poway said a man directed lewd comments and sexual gestures at her on Thursday, prompting her to hurry away.

Officials are now looking for information about who this man could be and if any similar situations have happened to others.

The girl was in the 14200 block of Tierra Bonita Road walking home from the middle school around 3:20 p.m. Thursday when the alleged incident occurred, according to a San Diego County Sheriff's Department news release.

After the girl walked past the man as he stood in a driveway, he walked past her and stood in another driveway, according to the release. The girl walked faster to get away as the man "made lewd comments and gestures that were sexual in nature."

When she got home, the girl called her mother, who then called the Sheriff's Department when she got home from work, according to the release.

The man the girl said she saw is described as a 35- to 40-year-old white man who is about 5-foot-9-inches tall, with a medium build and short, straight brown hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Department's non-emergency line at 858-565-5200 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 to remain anonymous.
