Red Light-Runner Causes Rollover Crash, Paint Spill in Poway

A man in a pickup truck ran a red light in Poway on Thursday, causing another pickup to rollover and spill paint across Oak Knoll Road, an official said.

The man in the truck that rolled over was taken to the hospital after complaining of pain, but did not suffer life-threatening injuries, Sgt. David Cheever from the Poway Sheriff's Station said.

The crash was first reported at 8:09 a.m. Thursday. A man heading northbound on Pomerado Road in a pickup truck ran a red light at the intersection of Oak Knoll and Pomerado roads, hitting a second pickup truck with paint supplies in the bed, Cheever said.

"The vehicle, after it was hit, rolled over and ended up in the roadway spilling its load just east of the intersection on Oak Knoll Road with several gallons of paints being thrown all over the roadway," Cheever said.

Crews were working Thursday to clean the paint off of the roadway. The man who ran the red light was cited and did not have any injuries, Cheever said.
