MAGIC CARPET RIDE
Neighborhood Healthcare announces the 15th Annual Pace Setter Gala, “Magic Carpet Ride,” this Saturday, June 1, at Orfila Vineyards in Escondido. The purpose is to raise money for the future Gold Family Health Center in Poway and Unfunded Care for Kids.

To date NH reports they have received 130 donations for their silent, live and opportunity auctions. In the “Best of Live” opportunity drawing, 100 tickets will be sold at $100 each. The winner can choose any prize on the list, including round-trip airfare on Alaska Airlines, best seats in the house for the Padres or a week in Puerto Vallarta. RSVP and get more info from Barbara Burke at 760-520-8365 or email her at connieb@nhcare.org. Hurry, it's this Saturday.

POWAY DAY AT THE PADRES
Poway Lions President Sharon Gruber is organizing a Poway Day at the Padres for Monday, June 24. The recently-crowned Miss Poway, Jackie Foster, will be singing the national anthem plus other Poway excitement at the home plate ceremony. Sharon will be raffling off tickets to win the first pitch of the game. If you or your organization would like to be involved in representing our little city in the country, contact her at misspoway@gmail.com.

ESCONDIDO HUMANE CELEBRATES 10
It's the 10th anniversary of rebuilding the Escondido Humane Society and their big Homecoming festivities are Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to noon at the EHS facility.

Yes, there is a Homecoming Court and your pet can be in it. All pets (alumni or not) are eligible to participate. You can nominate your pet by creating your own personalized webpage using their link. Then have everyone you've ever met vote for your precious pet. It's free to enter and every $5 donation to your webpage is a vote for your pet to reign supreme. It's all good fun and it helps the animals at the Escondido Humane Society get closer to a forever home. Homecoming portraits, alumni group photo, crowning of the first homecoming court, prizes for class clown, miss congeniality, etc. As a special, all dogs and cats 6 months and older can be adopted for $10. Contact Jean Russo at 760-888-2240 or email development@escondidohumanesociety.org.

ROCKIN' AMERICA
That's the theme as the Poway High School combined choir celebrates more than 50 years of rock 'n' roll at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, May 30, at 7 p.m. The choirs will perform rock music from Elvis to Justin Bieber, directed by choral director Nancy Gray and accompanied by Alexander Mirolyan. Hopefully they got some instruction watching the Elvis merethon on Encore this past weekend. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students, children, military and seniors. Get'em by calling 858-486-0549.
