$3.5M Poway Plaza Construction Complete

Michaels and Grocery Outlet now fill the space where Dixieline Lumber once stood.

The $3.5 million construction on the Poway Plaza is complete, a press release announced Friday.

The Nadel Architects-designed project, located at 13345 Poway Rd., was implemented to revitalize the existing shopping center. According to the release, the 40,000 square-foot building that formerly housed Dixieline Lumber has been repurposed into two new retail spaces: one for Michael's and one for Grocery Outlet, set to open in August.

“We designed this center to appeal to a modern clientele, both in terms of the tenants and the consumers they will serve,” said Jim Connelly, AIA, managing principal of the San Diego office of Nadel Architects.

Nadel said they designed the center to "appeal to a national tenant base and attract a wider range of customers."

New pronounced entry canopies, slate-tiled columns and an updated color scheme for the project will promote the center as a valuable upgrade to the surrounding neighborhood.

According to the release, the center will be open to the public in August, with the grand opening of Michael’s and the Grocery Outlet to follow in October.
