PUSD Needs Tutors; Non-Profit Needs Clothes

Start Smart

  • Are you a parent of a teen driver? The Start Smart Program is hosted by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and will offer a two class for new teen drivers and their parents or guardians. The class will discuss consequences of distracted or impaired driving, collision prevention, teen drinking and driving and more. Start Smart will start at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15 at Poway High School. Registration is required online
Cheap, Cheap!
  • A little birdie told us that the Friends of the Poway Library is having their end of the summer book sale next week. Anyone with questions should call Wendy at 858-335-8016.
Gently Used
  • Got gently-used baby clothing that's of no use in your home any more? Donate them to Gently Hugged, a local nonprofit that collects new and gently used baby clothing for military and low income families. Drop off locations include nearby libraries.
AVID Tutors Wanted
  • Poway Unified School District is currently looking for AVID tutors for the 2013-2014 school year. The district said ideal candidates will be strong in Math, Science and/or English. Compensation for tutoring is $11 per hour.
A Peek into the Future
  • Poway Chamber of Commerce is inviting Powegians to Escondido tonight from 4-6 p.m. at the Neighborhood Healthcare Open House,. Poway Mayor Don Higginson will be in attendance and residents can view what the future Poway health clinic will look like.
