Vanessa Guzman, Neighbor

Vanessa Guzman grew up in Chula Vista, but was born in Mexicali, Mexico. Vanessa is fluent in Spanish and attended the University of San Diego where she majored in English Literature. Vanessa will be covering arts, culture and community events for Patch. She also does community work with a nonprofit that prepares underprivileged children for college.

Growing up, Vanessa's family spent many summers in Coronado enjoying the beach, shopping and eating in restaurants. On the Fourth of July, her family travels to Coronado as a tradition to watch the amazing fireworks display. Vanessa knows and loves the island and is looking forward to learning more about the history of Coronado and the arts & culture scene.

In her spare time, Vanessa enjoys yoga, riding her bike and having long family dinners. In the future, Vanessa wants to travel to Europe and visit Prague, Spain and other countries.
