Mary Buckheit
Mary Buckheit covers sports for Poway Patch and news for Coronado Patch.
Mary has lived in San Diego since she moved here in 2006. She didn't plan on staying in America's Finest City but she just can't bring herself to leave. She grew up in Connecticut and still ties cable knit sweaters around her shoulders when she misses home. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Management from Siena College in New York where, upon graduating, she swiftly began her career as a journalist. (Which only means that her writing is certified to brainwash and control you, simultaneously.) Her longest gig was at ESPN.com where she worked as a staffer for eight years. She put in her time as an associate editor before springing the office confines for California to accept a full- time columnist position with The Worldwide Leader. Mary now works as a freelance contributor to ESPN. She also pens in several San Diego-based publications including SDGLN.com and FlawLes Lifestyle and Entertainment Media where Mary is the host/writer/creator of its popular segment, FlawLes TV. At Patch, Mary will chronicle human interest about town, in addition to the sports beat. After years of working with professional athletes and their bling, she says she can't wait to get back to basics. ...And orange slices at halftime. Check out her ESPN archive, if you're into that sort of thing.
