Katie Memmel, Neighbor

Katie Memmel, who writes features and previews weekend fun, was raised in La Mesa, and spent her early adulthood hopping from Spring Valley to El Cajon to Rancho San Diego. She lived five years in Milwaukee, and wrote for the Lake Country Reporter and the Onion's local website. In October 2009, she returned to La Mesa and she now is editor of a steel industry publication, <i>Prime</i> magazine.
Katie attended Lemon Avenue Elementary School, Spring Valley Middle School, Grossmont High School (class of '98) and San Diego State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in English in 2002.
She is married to a fellow Foothiller, Michael (class of '99), and they live in El Cajon with their daughter, Lily.
