Montessori Child Development Center is housed in a California ranch style converted home nestled in the beautiful…More rolling hills of Poway California. The parcel is 1.2 acres of land and takes full advantage of both the sunlight and the view. The indoor classrooms provide areas for practical life, art, reading, manipulative tools, and plenty of space for children to independently explore their world.
The peaceful surroundings for outdoor learning includes an expansive grassy lawn dotted with fruit trees, a children's flower, herb/vegetable garden and an enclosed farm yard with roosters, hens, and goats. The playground offers many recreational amenities, including a large sand box and a three story tree-house style play structure with two slides. An onsite nature walk is available to students for environmental studies.
Affectionately dubbed MCDC, this school adheres to the traditional Montessori program with a three year age grouping of 3-6 year olds together in each classroom. This enables the younger students to learn from their older experienced peers. The senior students then get the opportunity to mentor their younger classmates.
The environment is designed to meet the needs, interests, abilities, and development of the children in the class. The teachers design and adapt the environment with the current community of children in mind, rapidly modifying the selection of educational materials available, the physical layout, and the tone of the class to best fit the ever changing needs of the children.
