Monday Essentials: Firefighters, City Council and Breaking Bad

See how you can hang out with Poway firefighters this weekend, and answer our spoiler-free question about the end of Breaking Bad.

Here's a look at some things to know for the upcoming week:

  • Fire Open House: The Poway Fire Department is hosting its annual Open House from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Fire Training Tower, 12335 Crosthwaite Cir. There will be activities for kids, tours and a concession stand with proceeds going to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Details here.
  • City Council Meets Tuesday: The City Council will first have a special meeting at 6 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m. There are agenda items about mobile food vendors, Espola Road improvements and more. See the full agendas here.
  • Breaking Bad is Over: Don't worry. We're not going to spoil the finale for you here. (But if that's what you want, go here.) We will ask, though: Do you think the show had a positive or negative effect on how people perceive methamphetamine use? Poway is no stranger to meth problems and some in law enforcement say the show has glorified the drug's use. What do you think?
