Operation for HOPE Sets the Date for 3rd Annual Softball Game
Save the date for the annual baseball game that raises money for domestic violence victims and their children.
3rd ANNUAL “STRIKE OUT” DOMESTIC VIOLENCE GAME SET
The city of Poway is set to take on the San Diego City Attorney's Office in the 3rd annual Strike Out Domestic Violence charity softball game! Save the date. It's Saturday, Sept. 15, with opening ceremonies beginning at 6 p.m. Nine innings of coed, slow pitch softball to benefit the Operation for HOPE Foundation and its mission to remove economic barriers for domestic violence victims and their children.
The event co-chairs are San Diego City Attorney Jan Goldsmith and Poway Mayor Don Higginson. The celebrity coaches are Merv Rettenmund and Randy Jones. David Justice will be master of ceremonies. The event includes raffle drawings while sponsorships are available and in-kind donations are needed. Tickets are available now online at Operationforhope.org. They're $20 for adults and $10 for 16 and under and are limited so get 'em now.

FURRY FRIENDZY
That's what the Escondido Humane Society is calling it's Wednesday, Aug. 1, 12-hour adopt-a-thon event. Doors open at 8 a.m. with free Starbucks coffee and will stay open until 8 p.m. The goal is to find as many homes for their animals as possible while having fun. It also marks the kickoff of EHS' entry in the national ASPCA $100K Challenge, with partner, spokesperson and Food Network Chef Rachael Ray. Seminars, food and beverage and live music are on the agendafor the event. Escondido Humane is located at 3450 East Valley Parkway in Escondido.
