Poway Patriotic Parade Committee Seeks Donations

The annual parade is just around the corner and committee members are hoping to raise $35,000.

I LOVE A PARADE

The 47th annual Poway Days celebration is just around the corner, and the Poway Patriotic Parade Committee is asking for your financial support in order to finance the volunteer-run event. An estimated 5,000 to 10,000 people are expected to line the parade route on Sept. 10, which begins at Poway and Pomerado roads, and proceeds east to the Poway Library. This years theme is "honoring those who serve...yesterday, today, tomorrow." It serves as a tribute to the armed forces, law enforcement, fire fighters and medical support personnel. The organizers are planning a pre-parade breakfast, "pet" parade and a performance by elementary school students on parade day. They are hoping to raise $35,000 through donations. Get more information at powayca.org and sponsorship details from committee members Sue Herndon at 858-344-9000 and Sharon Cafagna at 858-518-7180.

POWAY ROTARY STARTS A NEW YEAR

Congratulations to our new Rotary Club of Poway president for 2011-12. He is long-time member Alan Noblit, who's year began on July 1st. Alan has been an active participant in all of our club activities from serving dinners at Ronald McDonald House and to seniors on Thanksgiving at Royal Coach Estates to staining benches at Old Poway Park, cleanups at Lake Poway and organizing our fundraising efforts. He is also President of Seascape Capital, a buyer of mortgage notes, which he launched in 2002 and serves on the board of the local YMCA and Boy Scouts of America. We look forward to another successful year as the premiere service organization for our community.
