POWAY CHAMBER SWEARS IN NEW BOARD

It was a well-attended June mixer at Stone Ridge Country Club last Thursday evening as members of the Poway Chamber of Commerce got together to share success stories and enhance relationships. The big event of the evening was the swearing in of Board members for 2013-14. Poway Mayor Don Higginson did the honors.

OLD FASHIONED 4TH

The annual free celebration of the 4th of July in Poway begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday in Old Poway Park, 14134 Midland Road, with a rifle salute from the Shadow River Regulators. Enjoy live music, old-fashioned games, arts and crafts, food and good ole' family fun. Take a ride on the Poway train but watch out for train robbers! This year is very special because it's the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg and there will be Civil War re-enactments at 12:30 and at 3:30 p.m.. When the park festivities are done at 4 p.m., you'll have plenty of time to get over to Poway High School stadium, 15500 Espola Rd., for the annual fireworks show, which goes from 7 to 10 p.m. The entrance fee is $2 per person and kids 11 and under are free.
