Poway Gives Back: Christmas in the Park, YMCA Toy Drive and More

Enjoy an old fashioned Christmas with Santa and Mrs. Claus, then donate toys at the YMCA and help the Soroptimists and young military families.

By Bill Stoudenmire

The magic of an old fashioned Christmas returns to Old Poway Park on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Christmas in the Park is free with plenty of holiday things to see and do.

Giving back and joining the City of Poway in putting on this year's event are the volunteer based organizations of the Old Poway Park Action Committee, Old Poway Village, Francis Ralph Potograpiya, Home Depot of Poway, Neal Electric and Walter Anderson Nursery.

Between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., free horse-drawn hayrides down Midland will be available. There will be a petting zoo, face painting, vintage Legos and dolls on display, hand-crafted holiday gifts available for purchase, ride the steam locomotive for a small fee, holiday sweets and warm dinner foods, live music and more. Play old-fashioned games at the Nelson House.
