ESCONDIDO HUMANE REACHES OUT

The Escondido Humane Society needs volunteers to join its Community Outreach team. This program helps adoptable animals “reach out” to people outside the shelter environment, increases visibility and raises public awareness of the lifesaving programs and services provided by EHS. The program is perfect for those who are passionate about helping homeless animals and enjoy interacting with large groups and varieties of people.

Duties fall under two main headings: Community Outreach Manager and Animal Handlers. Outreach Managers assist staff with volunteer coordination and recruitment for events like fundraisers, festivals and fairs. They set up and tear down informational booths and answer questions about EHS programs and services and animal-related issues. Animal Handlers transport adoptable animals to and from events, handle them during the outreach events and make sure they safely interact with the public. All volunteers must complete volunteer orientation and on-the-job training and be at least 18 years of age. Get more details by calling EHS at 760-888-2235 or email outreach@escondidohumanesociety.org.
