The bike ride is 10.7 miles, including San Dieguito Road, which was Nick's favorite. The 2.6 mile walk includes a visit to the memorial site. CHELSEA'S LIGHT SCHOLARSHIPS

Ten students from throughout San Diego County will share $60,500 in Sunflower Scholarships from Chelsea's Light Foundation. The inaugural scholarships were awarded last week by Kelly and Brent King, parents of slain Poway High teen Chelsea King. The scholarship money was raised from the proceeds of Chelsea's Run, the 5K run/walk and festival held at Balboa Park in March.

"Change Maker" Corynn Kolberg from Escondido High School received the "Sparkle" scholarship of $10,000. She earned a 4.3 grade-point average, played varsity water polo at her school, and was chapter President of "Best Buddies", fostering friendships among people with mental disabilities. She's also active in the Surfrider Foundation and the Rotary Youth Leadership Association. Kolberg plans to attend Wake Forest University in September. Other high school graduates received $2000 each in scholarship awards. All will receive additional funding while pursuing their 4-year degree. Check back with Poway Patch later for more on the scholarship winners.
