Help the Post Office Stamp Out Hunger

Letter carriers will be collecting canned food for local food banks on May 12.

The nation’s largest single-day food drive will take place on Saturday, May 12, when postal workers from across the nation unite in the 20th annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive. Letter carriers in San Diego County are asking you to place a bag of non-perishable food items by your mail box before your mail is delivered on that day. You can also drop off the bag at your local post office. The carriers will then deliver all items to a local food bank.

Needed are canned tuna, as well as canned meats, stews, fruits, vegetables, pasta, rice and cereal. Since it started in 1983, Stamp Out Hunger has collected more than 1 billion pounds of food across the country, with over a half million pounds collected in San Diego County last year.
