Generous Contribution Kicks Off Community Clinic Effort
A donation by Alan and Debbie Gold purchased land for Poway's first community clinic.
NEIGHBORHOOD HEALTH CARE IN POWAY
Thanks to a generous contribution from longtime Poway residents Alan and Debbie Gold, Poway is closer to having its first community clinic. Kickoff of the capital-raising campaign began May 24 and attendees of the ceremony included Neighborhood Healthcare CEO Tracy Ream, Poway Councilman Dave Grosch, representatives from Palomar Pomerado Health and other members of the community. The Golds' donation purchased the land for the clinic. An estimated $3 million is needed for the building with hopes of seeing the first patients in 2013-14. POWAY CARS FOR POWAY KIDS
Turn your unwanted vehicle into a shiny new tax credit! Through a joint project of the Kiwanis Club of Poway and Tow Pros, you can donate your used car, truck, utility, motorcycle, RV, trailer or boat. The Tow Pros will pick it up and make it suitable for sale. Income generated from the sale will be treated as a tax-deductible contribution by you. The Kiwanis Foundation will use the money raised to fund its numerous projects associated with children, such as scholarships for high school seniors and Children's Hospital. Contact Jeff Wilson, the foundation's secretary, at 858-487-2870 or jtw@jeffreytwilson.com.

SHAKE IT, SHAKE IT
Thanks to Cindi Phallen and Veronica Mackenzie from the Poway Boys & Girls Club, who visited the Rotary Club of Poway's regular noon Wednesday meeting at the Brigantine last week and treated us to a physical workout. We learned how to exercise at our desks while we work every day and get in the recommended 2 hours of exercise a day. Eventually we did all stand up and "shake it"—and felt better for it. A reminder that Adventure Camp begins June 9 and runs every week through Aug. 24 at the club. A fee of $100 per week includes one field trip for your child every week. Details at sdyouth.org.
