Chargers' Ryan Mathews Hosts Poway Golf Event for Charity

San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews is teeing off at Poway's Maderas Golf Club later this month to raise money for children and homeless mothers.

The Ryan Mathews Charity Golf Tournament is slated for July 22, starting with registration, breakfast and photos from 11 a.m. to noon. The golfing—$225 entry fee per golfer, or $800 for a foursome—begins at 12:30 p.m.

The event has been organized to benefit The Trish & Ryan Mathews Door of Hope Chest, provides homeless mothers with children the basics for new apartments, such as bedding and towels. Proceeds also will help Strikes 4 Kids purchase backpacks, toys and school supplies for children.
