RB Visits Poway in Playoff Tuneup

Both teams will earn postseason berths, but the winner can improve its seeding standing.

The two schools are just a few miles apart as the crow flies, so when Rancho Bernardo High visits Poway High for a 7 p.m. game Friday, the winner can claim neighborhood bragging rights, plus second place in the Palomar League football standings.

Another perk will be a solid seeding when the San Diego Section playoff pairings are announced Saturday afternoon. Both teams will likely host a first-round game on Nov. 19, Poway (6-3 overall, 2-1 in league) in the Division I bracket and Rancho Bernardo (7-2, 2-1) in Division II.

The host Titans had won six straight before running into unbeaten Torrey Pines last week and falling 38-17. The only losses for the Broncos, who won four straight games to open the season and three of their last four, were to Mission Hills (21-18) and Torrey Pines (20-13).
