Game On: Chargers Avoid TV Blackout

The team needed an extension to sell enough tickets to avoid a dreaded blackout.

Charger fans not heading to Sunday’s home game against the Titans will be able to watch the game live on TV after the team sold enough tickets to avoid a blackout.

Several hundred tickets are still available, the team said, including Club seats and tickets returned by the Titans.

The fate of the telecast was in doubt after it was announced that the Chargers still had . The NFL granted the team a to sell more tickets.

The game will be broadcast on KFMB-TV, channel 8, with kickoff at 1:25 p.m. Chargers legend Dan Fouts will call the game alongside Ian Eagle. 

Fans are encouraged to wear white to Qualcomm Stadium, not because of the hot temperatures that are expected, but to support White Hot Sunday, when the Chargers will take the field wearing white pants and jerseys.

A pregame ceremony will officially retire the number 55 in honor of Junior Seau.

Remaining tickets can be purchased at the Chargers’ website, by calling (800) 745-3000. The ticket window at Qualcomm Stadium at Gate C will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
