Green Bay Packers' Pickett Brings Celebrity Golf Tournament to Town

Ryan Pickett, who has a home in Poway, is hosting a golf tournament in San Diego this weekend to raise money for foster youth.

A Green Bay Packers player with a home in Poway and a love for kids is hosting a celebrity golf tournament in San Diego this weekend to raise money for a local foster youth organization.

The Ryan Pickett Celebrity Golf Classic will be held at the Barona Creek Golf Club at the Barona Resort & Casino in Lakeside beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday.

"We have six kids of our own, so [my wife and I] love children," Pickett, 33, told U-T San Diego. "We want to do anything we can to help these foster care programs because they deserve all the help they can get."

Several other Packers players are slated to attend, including quarterback Aaron Rodgers who has a home in the San Diego area as well, according to the newspaper.

The event, which has individual and group packages ranging from $750 to $2,500, will benefit Casa de Amparo in San Diego and the American Foundation of Counseling Services, Inc. in Green Bay, WI.

More details are available at the Ryan Pickett Foundation.
