Friday Night Lights: Week 10 Prep Football Preview

It's an unbeaten team matched against another that's just .500 this season, but 7-0-1 Poway High won't be taking 4-4 Torrey Pines lightly when the two meet Friday night on the Falcons' field in a Palomar League battle.

The Titans, ranked No. 2 in the county, just have to remember back to last season, when they had a six-game winning streak snapped by Torrey Pines, which won 38-17 in Poway. The winner will be assured of at least a share of the league title.

In other North County games involving ranked teams, the two Oceanside schools face the two Carlsbad programs as No. 8 Oceanside High visits Carlsbad while No. 6 La Costa Canyon plays at El Camino.

In the East County, No. 1 Helix will tune up for what likely will be a Grossmont Hills title-deciding game with Steele Canyon next week by hosting Granite Hills, while Grossmont can ruin the scenario with a win over visiting SC.

In the South Bay, 7-1 Mar Vista hosts 4-4 Hilltop, with both at 1-0 in the Metro South Bay, a league in which the four teams play just three league contests.
