All They Want for Christmas Is a Singing Selena Gomez

High school sophomore Anna Vaus made a home video asking Selena Gomez to sing at a local benefit concert.

Rebellion appears in many forms. For 15-year-old Anna Vaus, it’s figuring out a way to get Selena Gomez to perform at a local benefit concert later this year―despite her dad telling her it probably won’t happen.

“I was like, ‘OK, I kind of want to prove him wrong,’” said the sophomore, laughing.

Following in her mom’s film-making footsteps, Vaus decided to create a home video in which her school buddies and teachers ask the teen sensation to take part in Carols by Candlelight―a two-night event that raises money for Rady Children’s Hospital.

It took about five hours to make the less than two minute video, which shows several star struck girls―and a couple of guys―offering hellos before making their request. The video was uploaded to YouTube on Nov. 4 and has had 2,464 views as of Friday morning. Vaus says 400 people have shared it on Facebook.

“I would definitely just freak out―I’d probably cry,” said Vaus if Gomez were to agree. “I’d tell all my friends about it because they’re really excited.”

And of course there’d also be some ribbing at her dad’s expense.

But even if Gomez doesn’t come, the 22nd annual Carols by Candlelight has quite a line-up for Dec. 9 and 10 with Country singers Clay Walker and Juice Newton, among others.

“I’m probably most excited about Whitney Duncan because she’s on Survivor and I really like that show,” Vaus said.
