The board will also discuss new career classes.

The Poway Unified school board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 at the district office, 15250 Avenue of Science, San Diego.

The contract calls for an extension of a 4 percent paycut in effect this year. The current contract expires at the end of June.
  • New Career Tech and P.E. Classes?: District officials would like to add classes related to six career tracks: broadcast journalism/television production; computer graphic arts; digital media production; fire science; first responder; principles of engineering. Officials also are proposing adding yoga as a physical education course. The proposals are for a first reading.
  • District Recognition: VFW California Teacher of the Year Jeff Carpenter; SAT performance; Westview High School's theatre and newspaper programs.
