Photo: Two Poway Unified Juniors Earn Perfect ACT Scores

Juniors at Westview and Rancho Bernardo high schools scored a perfect 36 on the ACT, a college entrance exam.

Poway Unified School District board members on Monday recognized two high school juniors for earning perfect scores of 36 on the ACT Test: Westview High School's Leon Medvinsky and Rancho Bernardo High School's John Tayag.

More than 1.6 million students take the ACT college admissions exam each year. According to a district staff report, of the 1.66 million students who were tested, only 781 received a perfect score of 36 on the four sections: English, math, reading and science.

Many students take both the SAT and the ACT, depending on which test is preferred by the school they are applying to.
