Skale, who has lived in Poway since 2005, enjoys noting the accomplishments of her family.

“I am most proud of my family, my husband Andrew, son Alex (11), and daughters Abbey (8) and Annabelle (5). We are a very active family and we are very involved in Poway. She finds inspiration from historical figures like Martha Washington and Abigail Adams.

“I admire women who made the most of their roles when society allowed them very little freedoms. I named my first daughter after Martha Washington and Abigail Adams (Abigail Washington Skale) because I greatly admire their contributions to the founding of the United States of America.

“Without their contributions, we might not have the wonderful country we have today.”

What does Women’s History Month mean to you?

“Women have not received the recognition they deserve for their contributions to history. Women make up about half of the world, but only a small portion of the pages in history books. Women’s History Month forces everyone to take a few moments to acknowledge the significant contribution women have made and continue to make to our world.”
