Class of 2012: Abraxas High Grads Get Their Diplomas

The Abraxas High School Class of 2012 turns the tassel and bids farewell to Principal Rudy Casciato.

With friends and family cheering them on, the Class of 2012 received their diplomas Wednesday evening in the quad. Homeroom teachers called their students to the stage, presented them their diplomas and shared a few thoughts on each one.

Senior speaker Danielle Lowry spoke about the unique nature of Abraxas students, who have transferred from other schools, determined to earn their diplomas.

“We all had different roads that led to the same place. We all may look different, but we all have the same goals inside of us,” she told her fellow graduates.

Casciato told the graduates that as his college graduation approached 40 years ago, he had no clue as to what he was going to do. His roommate suggested that he become a math teacher, which would allow him to coach baseball. Not to mention that he’s really good at math.

“Am I glad I listened to him, because he sent me off on a path of the most rewarding and satisfying career I could possibly imagine,” Casciato said during his closing remarks.
