Term Limits Effort Moves Forward

Councilman Dave Grosch says he has enough volunteers ready to get term limits on the 2012 ballot; he'll play minor role in the undertaking.

After 35 people attended a Thursday meeting, Councilman Dave Grosch said he has enough manpower to attempt to get term limits for the Poway City Council on the 2012 ballot.

Grosch said the need for term limits was apparent from the number of people who attended his meeting and from the 10-12 calls he received from others offering support.

"We had about 35 people come," he said. "I think that says a lot."

Though he will not take a lead role in the effort dubbed the "Term Limit Referendum Committee," Grosch said he is certain the initiative will be placed on the ballot.

He said a group of four to five volunteers will meet again early next week to set the plan and determine the type of term limits they want in place, how much money is needed and whether they could get enough support to place it on the February 2012 ballot or the June.
