Poway Resident Takes Top County Job

Helen Robbins-Meyer will succeed Walt Ekard, who has served as chief administrative officer for San Diego County for 13 years. She is expected to receive nearly $30,000 in raises over the course of two years.

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved an employment contract with the county’s incoming chief administrative officer.

Under terms of the deal, which are posted on the county’s website, Helen N. Robbins-Meyer, now the assistant chief administrative officer, will be paid $259,000 annually when she succeeds current CAO Walt Ekard on Dec. 1.

The contract bumps her salary to $274,000 on Dec. 1, 2013, and $289,000 on Dec. 1, 2014. It was passed without comment by the supervisors.
