PUSD Candidates to Take Questions at Public Forums

The three school board candidates will appear at Q&A sessions on Oct. 10 and Oct. 24.

Voters will get a chance to hear the three candidates for the Poway Unified School District’s Board of Education state their case for being elected at two public forums this month.

The first one is scheduled for Wednesday Oct. 10 from 7-9 p.m. at the . The forum will be hosted by the Palomar Council PTA and moderated by the League of Women Voters of San Diego. Audience members are asked to bring questions for the candidates.

The second forum will also feature the candidates for Poway City Council and be held on Oct. 24 at Painted Rock Elementary School. City Council candidates will begin at 7 p.m., and school board candidates will follow at 8:15 p.m.

Questions for the candidates at Painted Rock will be chosen by a panel from the Poway Chamber of Commerce and the Green Valley Civic Association. There will be a limited time for candidates to answer questions from the audience. Painted Rock Elementary is located at 16711 Martincoit Rd.

Two seats on the school board will be on the November ballot, and two of the three candidates are incumbents: Linda Vanderveen and Andy Patapow. Kimberley Beatty is challenging for a seat on the board.
