Parks and Rec Leader Robin Bettin Not Doing It for the Glamour

Prime Poway Woman No. 30 said her work for the government is what she is most proud of.

Robin Bettin has been in charge of community services for the city of Poway for two years.

Bettin—who also sits on the board of directors of the Poway Senior Center and the Poway Center for the Performing Arts—oversees the city’s biggest events including Christmas in the Park and the Summer Concerts.

She is high on working for the city.

“The thing that I am most proud of is that I have been fortunate enough to spend my entire career working in local government serving the communities that I have worked for,” she said.

“I have had  a real opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those I served, especially young people. Parks and recreation isn’t a glamorous profession, but it is something that I believe makes a major impact in the lives of residents throughout communities.

“The people I have been fortunate to work with and meet in the profession are wonderful and we are able to have a great deal of fun, while we do some really important work.”

Bettin takes inspiration from her mother, who taught her to be “a kind and caring person.”

“It’s an opportunity to celebrate the great accomplishments of women throughout history and honor the lessons that these women have taught us.”
