Poway City Council to Vote on Traffic Fee Increase, New Stop Sign

The annual fee funds improvements on eight Poway roads.

The Poway City Council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 in City Council Chambers, 13325 Civic Center Dr.

On the agenda (full agenda availabe here):

  • $44 Traffic Mitigation Fee Increase for 2013-14: Each year the council votes on increases to a Traffic Mitigation Fee that funds traffic and signal improvements on eight Poway roads: Espola Road, Poway Road, Pomerado Road, Twin Peaks Road, Community Road, Ted Williams Parkway, Camino Del Norte and Scripps Poway Parkway. This year's proposed 2 percent increase, set by SANDAG, would raise costs from $2,165 per residential unit to $2,209—a difference of $44. The fee change would go into effect July 1.
  • New Stop Sign at the Intersection of Tobiasson and Vaughan Roads: The council is being asked to approve a $600 stop sign for a residential intersection with high-speed drivers turning left from Tobiasson Road, which parallels Pomerado Road, onto Vaughan Road. The cost includes the sign and striping for the road. No accidents have been reported at the intersection, but some residents are concerned about the potential danger to pedestrians and drivers. An average of 510 cars traffic Tobiasson Road each day; 590 on Vaughan Road, according to a staff report.
