Poway City Council to Recognize City Manager Penny Riley

The Poway City Council is scheduled to recognize City Manager Penny Riley at Tuesday night's meeting for 25 years of service to the community.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 13325 Civic Center Dr. The agenda also includes a review of the General Plan and a vote on a lease agreeement for a cell site at the Boca Raton Reservoir. [The full agenda is attached.]

Riley, who is Poway's first woman city manager, has been working for the city for 25 years in a variety of roles. She was honored by Patch as a Prime Poway Woman in 2011 for her work in the city. At the time, she said of her role:

“Many days at the office are spent reading staff reports, analyzing budget figures and attending briefings. ...I am most proud of mentoring staff and working with individuals to solve problems. This is part of my daily work, and I enjoy getting to know our residents better. My greatest accomplishment is budget balancing and program development for the city over the years. I am also pleased that I had the opportunity to lead the building team for the construction of the Poway City Hall complex.”

The General Plan review also scheduled for Tuesday night includes a look at the status of projects in key goal areas such as public safety and transportation, including re-timing 32 traffic signals along Poway, Twin Peaks, Community and Espola roads.

The council is also scheduled to vote on a five-year lease agreement with New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC for a cell site at 17301 Butterfield Trail that is expected to bring in no less than about $200,000 in revenue.
