Rep. Peters Says His Staff Will Use the New Insurance Exchanges

Peters said he has "a strong belief that members of Congress and our staff should abide by the same rules as all Americans."

Rep. Scott Peters announced that all of his Congressional office staff will use the new insurance exchanges under the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare.

The Democrat from La Jolla said in a statement last week that despite reports that some Congressional offices planned to sidestep the new exchanges, his staff would not do so.

“All of my staff will participate in the exchanges, without exception," Peters said. "This is consistent with my strong belief that members of Congress and our staff should abide by the same rules as all Americans.”

Peters also noted that he personally does not accept the employer health coverage benefit from the House of Representatives.

Peters' 52nd District includes Coronado, La Jolla, Carmel Valley, Rancho Penasquitos, 4S Ranch, Rancho Bernardo and Poway, among other communities in San Diego.
