New Veterinary Clinic Coming to Poway After City Council Approves Permit

Best Friends Veterinary Clinic is looking to fill the vacant space in the Twin Peaks Plaza near Target and Albertson's.

The Poway City Council unanimously approved a conditional use permit for a veterinary clinic to be located at 14861 Pomerado Road at Tuesday night's bi-monthly meeting at the City Council Chambers.

Best Friends Veterinary Clinic is looking to fill the vacant space in the Twin Peaks Plaza near Target and Albertson's. The suite, according to the City, is 1,460 square feet and in a multi-tenant commercial building occupied mostly by restaurants, service businesses and a clothing store.

According to Director of Developmental Services Bob Manis, the vet clinic will provide medical and surgical care for local pets, with no boarding services offered unless the animals to be kept overnight for medical reasons.

Manis also said there would also be no outdoor facilities or exterior building modifications.

Tentative hours of operation are:

  • Monday and Wednesday: 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Manis said Best Friends Veterinary Clinic hopes to eventually offer services seven days a week, expanding their hours to the following:
  • Monday through Friday: 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
After two years, the conditional use permit will expire and a building permit will need to be obtained.

An opening date was not provided for the new vet clinic.
