Grosch Pushes Term Limits Issue Further, Sets Meeting

Councilman Dave Grosch will host a meeting at his home Thursday to possibly establish a committee to get term limits on the 2012 ballot.

Councilman Dave Grosch is pushing the idea of term limits for Poway's City Council a step further with an “exploratory” meeting planned for Thursday.

Grosch—who placed the issue on the Feb. 22 agenda and saw three of his colleagues turn the idea down for city research—will host a meeting at his home to explore the idea of creating a “Term Limit Referendum Committee.”

“I know it’s a long, hard process to get anything on the ballot,” he said. “This meeting is meant to see if we have those people out there who want term limits and are willing to work for it through a petition.”

The meeting will include a discussion of whether term limits are needed and what type of term limits it should be. If the committee is formed, an estimated 2,800 signatures are needed to place the measure on the 2012 General Election ballot.

Grosch said he needs about 12-16 “core people” willing to do the leg work and, so far, has about 10 people.

Grosch is asking those interested in joining the committee to attend the meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. To RSVP, call 858-486-3252.
