City Council To Discuss Temporary Relocation of Poway Farmers Market

The Farmers Market is looking to move to Midland Road between Adrian and Edgemoor Streets, as well as extending their hours.

The Poway Farmers Market may make a move from its location at the corner of Midland Road and Temple Street if City Council approves of a temporary permit Tuesday night.

The Farmers Market is looking to move to Midland Road between Adrian and Edgemoor Streets, as well as extending their hours. Currently, the market runs every Saturday from 8-11 a.m. The approval of the new temporary permit, which will last one year, will extend the hours of operation to 1 p.m.

According to the City, market attendance has gone up 17 percent in the past two years, prompting the need for more space for the increased amount of vendors and market-goers.

The City of Poway projects that relocating the market may increase revenue for the City's General Fund by 25 percent over the next fiscal year.

The temporary relocation, which could eventually become permanent, will cause road closures on Midland Road between Adrian and Edgemoor Streets, but Temple Street would remain open, according to the City.

Other notable items on the consent calendar for the Tuesday night agenda include a Poway Landscape Maintenance tax and a proposal for a veterinary clinic at 14861 Pomerado Road.

The council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m., July 16, inside the City Council Chambers at 13325 Civic Center Dr.
