By the Numbers: DeMaio, Peters Congressional Campaign Spending

DeMaio raised more money in the last reporting period, but Peters has more cash on hand for the 52nd Congressional District race.

This week, the Federal Election Commission released the financial reporting reports for the 52nd Congressional District race showing Republican challenger Carl DeMaio off to a strong fundraising start one month into his campaign against Democrat Scott Peters.

While Peters, who was elected to the seat in November, officially began his re-election campaign in February, DeMaio didn't file his statement of candidacy until the end of May, only leaving him a month to raise money before the first reporting period deadline.

Between May 30 and June 30, DeMaio brought in nearly $484,000 to Peters' $363,000 raised from the beginning of the reporting period on April 1. Peters, however, has raised more money overall ($647,000) and has more cash on hand ($526,000).
