Brown Appoints Water Quality Control Board Members

Eric Anderson, from San Diego County, was re-appointed.

A member of the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board was re-appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown Wednesday, and two others were added to the panel.

Eric Anderson, a 54-year-old farmer who has served on the board since 2002, was re-appointed. The Escondido farmer and vice president of the La Costa Flower Shop and Nursery has also been a longtime board member of the San Diego County Farm Bureau.

The governor added to the board UC San Diego physics professor Henry Abarbanel. The 68-year-old Del Mar resident has also served as chairman of the Metro Wastewater Commission and is a former Del Mar City Council member.

Lawyer Tomas Morales, 48, of San Diego, also was appointed.

The San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board is a nine-member panel tasked with protecting the area's watershed. Their position requires Senate confirmation. Anderson is a Libertarian and the other two are Democrats.
