Bank Says Auction of Superintendent's Home Postponed

John Collins' home will not be a part of a public auction scheduled next week.

A spokesman for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage said the advertised auction of Poway Unified School District Superintendent John Collins's home on Nov. 9 has been postponed while the matter is researched further.

"We continue to work with the Collins family on their request for mortgage payment assistance," said Jason Menke, a communications consultant with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, in an email to Patch. "To that end, we have postponed the foreclosure sale date referenced in the legal notices so that we can continue to review their situation."

"Foreclosure remains an option of last resort for Wells Fargo. We never choose to make a customer’s information or the fact that we are foreclosing public unless it is required by the state foreclosure rules. "

The legal notice published by the bank on Oct. 27 in the North County Times noted the sale would be conducted to settle unpaid obligations of $1.1 million on the Poway home of Collins and his wife Lisa. The current deed of trust on the home, located at 14197 Palisades Drive, was executed in 2005, according to the public notice.

In a Collins told Patch his home is in foreclosure but that he is "working with the bank on a loan restructuring."
