Two Poway Drivers Arrested on Suspicion of Drunken Driving

The drivers were arrested at a Saturday night checkpoint.

Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving at a Poway checkpoint on Saturday night.

Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department also arrested one driver for an active misdemeanor warrant for a previous DUI and issued nine citations, according to officials.

A total of 1,891 vehicles drove through the checkpoint between 6 p.m. Saturday and 1:15 a.m. Sunday and 1,076 vehicles were screened in the primary inspection area. Another 39 vehicles were sent to a secondary inspection area.

The checkpoint was funded through a grant by the California Office of Traffic Safety.

Another checkpoint is scheduled for Aug. 31.
