Teen Suffers Broken Leg After Running Into Towed Trailer

The 15-year-old, who was running at night, said he didn't realize the moving truck was carrying a trailer behind it.

A Poway teen was transported to Rady's Children's Hospital and treated for a broken leg after running into a trailer being towed by a pick-up truck, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said.

According to Sgt. David Cheever, the 15-year-old boy was running westbound across the street at the intersection of Midland Road and Cynthia Lane around 9:17 p.m. Saturday night. At the same time, a Dodge Ram pick-up truck was driving northbound through the intersection.

Authorities say the teen saw the truck driving and  planned to run across the road once the truck had passed, not realizing the truck was towing a trailer. After the truck passed, the boy he started running and was hit by the trailer, Cheever said.
