Suspected Thief Arrested After Rolling Truck in Chase

Owners of vehicle alert deputies after realizing the truck was missing and spotting it nearby.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of auto theft Friday morning after crashing a 2003 GMC Sierra truck following a police pursuit.

After the owners of the truck realized it had been taken from the 13000 block of Wanesta Drive shortly after 5 a.m., they used another vehicle to look for it, alerting sheriff's deputies at 5:17 when they located the white truck nearby at the corner of Poway and Community roads.

According to Lt. Tony Rey at the San Diego Sheriff's Department communications center, deputies discovered the suspected car thief, Alex MacGregor, driving east on Twin Peaks Road at 6:18 a.m. and tried to pull him over, but he would not cooperate.
