Sheriff's Deputies Screen 370 Vehicles at Poway DUI Checkpoint

No DUI arrests were made, but a total of 13 drivers were issued citations for driver's license issues.

Deputies screened 370 vehicles Friday night and Saturday morning at a DUI and driver's license checkpoint on Scripps Poway Parkway at Kirkham Road.

During the four-and-a half-hour operation, 638 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 370 of the vehicles were screened. Twenty-seven vehicles were sent to a secondary screening area so the drivers could have their license status checked.

The Sheriff's Department said one driver was evaluated for DUI, but released after it was determined he was not under the influence.

Deputies issued nine citations for driving without a valid driver's license and four citations for driving on suspended licenses. Three vehicles were towed from the checkpoint.
