Robber Strikes Banks in Poway, Vista

An approximately 60-year-old man robbed two banks in Poway and one in Vista Friday, according to the FBI.

The robberies began at approximately 9:30 a.m. at the Chase Bank branch at 12380 Poway Road in Poway, FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth said.

The robber gave the teller a demand note and verbally demanded money, Foxworth said.

"The suspect indicated that he was armed," Foxworth said. "The teller complied with the robber's demand and provided him with a sum of money."

After receiving the money, the robber walked out of the bank and was last seen fleeing the area in a dark-colored sedan, Foxworth said.

The robber struck the US Bank branch at 245 Vista Village Drive in Vista at approximately 1:30 p.m., giving the teller a demand note and indicated he had a weapon, Foxworth said.

The final robbery came at approximately 3:05 p.m. at the US Bank branch at 13395 Poway Road in Poway. The suspect gave the teller a demand note, received a sum of money, then exited the bank, Foxworth said.

A weapon was never seen during any of the robberies, Foxworth said.

The suspect is white, between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall, weighs 225 pounds, is of average to heavy build with scruffy facial hair, Foxworth said.

The suspect wore a blue baseball cap, blue windbreaker, jeans, glasses and possibly a blue baseball cap with the letter C, similar to the Chicago Cubs' logo, Foxworth said.
